A restored, medieval house in Domme with a private heated pool and fantastic open views.
Maison de la Roche is in a unique position on the remparts of the fortified village of Domme (classified as "one of the most beautiful villages of France") having wonderful views across the countryside but within a short walk of the restaurants, shops and sights of the village. The house has a heated swimming pool set in a beautiful garden and its own on-site parking for two cars, all situated in a narrow, quiet street.
* The front door opens directly into the living room with its enormous fireplace (decorative use only), and display of armour and weapons (carelessly left behind by a previous resident during the 100 years War?).
* Through a door is the very well equipped kitchen with a dining area. A further door leads to the games room (table tennis, darts) and tapestry decorated stairs to one of the bedrooms (antique, king size bed and its own bathroom with shower, washbasin and WC). The window offers lovely views over the garden and the distant hills.
From the living room there is a staircase to the first floor library with its large collection of books ( fiction, non-fiction and special books about the area and its history), flat screen TV and DVD. The beautifully appointed main bedroom is on the same level (superking size 4-poster and its own bathroom).
In the "attic" is the third bedroom with a king size, antique bed and a single bed - to allow for flexibility. This bedroom also has its own bathroom and dramatic views over the village and the countryside.
From the kitchen there are double, glazed doors to the terrace with a table and chairs and a gas barbeque. Steps lead down to a small lawned area and a path to the heated swimming pool surrounded by its sunbathing area and exotic plants and shrubs. The grounds of the property are fenced so that children can be restrained from running out into the road.
After your day of swimming and sunbathing, you will have to walk only a few minutes to the variety of Domme's restaurants (ranging from bistro and pizzeria to world-class gourmet standard). Alternatively, use the superbly equipped kitchen to prepare your dinner from the delicious local produce you bought in the market. Or how about one of the world's best pizzas to take away from about 100 metres up the road?! (Next morning, stay in bed and send the kids up the road for croissants and pains au chocolat!)
