Situation

LE MANOIR DES HAUTS DE PIERREVAL is set on a hillside in a small rural hamlet just a few minutes drive north of the Dordogne River. Find canoeing, kayaking and a pretty riverside beach not far from Siorac-en-Périgord, a small village with restaurants and a supermarket. Medieval Saint-Cyprien is also a short drive away, a charming town with a delightful Sunday morning market and a marché nocturne in the height of the summer.

Where should you start exploring? There’s Domme, La Roque-Gageac and some of the Dordogne’s most iconic châteaux in one direction, then picturesque Limeuil, Trémolat and Bergerac in the other, not forgetting Sarlat-la-Canéda within half an hour. Discover wonderful walks, cycle routes and even hot-air balloon rides, all fantastic ways to appreciate the Périgord Noir scenery.
Furthermore, visit fascinating caves and pre-historic sites of the Vézère valley with Le Bugue and famous Les Eyzies both within 15km. Meanwhile to the south, head to bastide towns such as Monpazier and Belvès, classified as two of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ or venture to the picture-perfect village of Issigeac and its enchanting weekly market.

Discover canoeing and kayaking opportunities along the Dordogne near Siorac-en-Périgord (5km), a small village on the other side of the river with restaurants and a supermarket.
There are further amenities in and around the pretty medieval town of Saint-Cyprien (7km) on a hillside above the Dordogne River. Wander along the winding narrow lanes passing shops and restaurants, climb the hill towards the abbey, then admire the beautiful views of the Dordogne valley. Food lovers will appreciate the bustling Sunday morning market alongside a weekly evening marché gourmand in the height of the summer, a fine way to sample delicious gastronomy of the Périgord Noir.

This is a fantastic location for exploring the many villages and towns along the Dordogne River, as well as being only half an hour from Sarlat-la-Canéda (26km). Heading east, Domme (30km) is one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ with its idyllic setting above the river whilst idyllic La Roque-Gageac (20km) is a good place for river cruises along the Dordogne. Some of the region’s most famous châteaux are within easy reach such as Château des Milandes, Château de Beynac and Château de Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, all within a 15 to 20-minute drive.

In the other direction is picturesque Limeuil (14km) where the Dordogne and Vézère rivers converge, alongside historic Trémolat (20km) and its Michelin starred restaurants. Discover yet more wonderful cuisine and wines in Bergerac (50km), perhaps driving via Issigeac (45km), another picture-perfect village with a gorgeous Sunday morning market. Of course, look out for Farmer’s markets and atmospheric night markets across local villages.

Reviews

Beautiful, comfortable, well equipped house.
Eat out under the trees on the patio, with an amazing view across the valley.
Lovely pool to cool off in.
Magical time with lots to do locally : The house was well equipped and beautifully furnished – not the usual minimum holiday home. Plenty of space for family members to spread out and the balcony was our favourite spot. Our family and friends had a magical time with lots to do locally then home for the pool and the great views. We loved every minute.
Wow, what an amazing place – we will never get tired of that view! Thank you so much for giving us your wonderful home, we enjoyed the house, pool and especially the air conditioning!! Meals and wine under the terrace tree were a highlight along with the fantastic pool. Everyone had such a great time.
We really enjoyed our stay, the house is so comfortable and the views from everywhere are stunning. The kitchen as the hub of the house linked to the terrace is lovely and made our holiday a huge success.
