|We loved every minute of our 6-week stay in this gite. There is so much to see and do in this spectacularly interesting part of France. Our landlady was always available when we needed her, and she was so knowledgeable about the area and its attractions, from cafes, restaurants, a boulangerie, and hairdresser, to the most important chateaux, churches, prehistoric sites, gardens and nearby towns to visit. Her advice and friendship added another much appreciated element to an already exciting holiday. Even 6 weeks was not long enough to explore and learn about so much history and culture and markets and products.
The house itself, while not five-star luxury, (which we didn’t want anyway) was perfectly clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed, including two bathrooms, one with a spa bath. It also has loads of character - we chose it for its cute shuttered window and the old cobbled street! Everything was close by - a few steps from our door and we were in the main little shopping street. There are two supermarkets in St Cyprien, and a lively and popular Sunday morning market. Although this is in the old historic part of St Cyprien, we always found a car park within a few metres of the house.
Coming from a country with more recent history than that of France, we found this property to be very convenient for a holiday that was different from anything we have done before, and would certainly recommend it to like-minded friends.
This holidays has been a real experience for us - different from any other holiday we have ever had. We'll return to New Zealand with wonderful memories, and those memories will stay with us for the rest of our life.
Thank you for providing such a convenient and comfortable "home away from home" and for your friendship, help, and good advice. Maybe one day we shall return to your spectacularly interesting part of the world - how we would lobe that ! Love, Marilyn and Ian B.
