From the street, this house looks just like many others in Domme - but don't be fooled by appearances!
Push open the front door and you will discover a house full of character, tastefully decorated and mostly furnished with antiques yet with all modern comforts. Nestled on the top of the medieval remparts of the village, it offers spectacular views from the terrace to La Porte des Tours - the original gateway into the village, and Templar knights prison!

INTERIOR DESCRIPTION:
*********************
The front door opens into a hallway where several steps lead up to:
- a large open plan living space of 55m² offering three distinct areas:
* a spacious, fully fitted, modern kitchen (small diswhwasher, oven, hob, microwave, washer/dryer, coffe machine, kettle, fridge...)
* a dining area with table and four chairs
* a comfortable sitting area with decorative fireplace, sofa, armchairs, coffee table and lamps
The living room opens onto the:
* a conservatory with a sofa and armchairs and stunning views over the valley and the famous "Porte des Tours"

A corridor leads to two double bedrooms, each one with a large double bed (160cm wide)
* a dressing room/office
* a shower room with double wash basins and walk in shower
* a separate toilet

The house is double glazed and offers air conditioning in all rooms except the conservatory.
Bed linen and towels are included for your comfort, and internet WiFi access is available throughout the house.

Despite the comfort and the quality of the interior furnishings, it is without doubt the exterior space of this property which gives it that "something" truly special!

* A terrace built actually onto the remparts offers views across the huge garden, private pool and countryside beyond. There is a wooden table and chairs and a gas barbecue for al fresco dining.
* A conservatory offers a covered space for relaxing whilst enjoying the view over the Porte des Tours, which is illuminated every evening!
From this level, a path leads in front of the owners house (who lives next door but is rarely present and when is, extremely discreet!), down some stone steps and actually through an archway in the remparts!
* At this level you will find the wonderful pool measuring 8m x 4m, private, south facing and surrounded by decking and established plants. There are sun loungers and a large parasol ideal for lazy afternoons!
* A vast garden, all lawned and surrounded by shrubs and flowers stretches before you, and leads to a lower level where the more adventurous can wander amongst the hundred year old trees and discover the nature rare in the centre of Domme!
* On an upper level, and accessible via the street, or via a steep slope from the garden, is a private, gated parking area for two cars.

Classed 4 star in 2021, the property is situated on the ground floor of a house. It has been completely renovated recently and is completely independent. The extremely discreet owner lives next door - invisible unless you need her!

**PLEASE NOTE**
Due to the position of the house on the remparts, with steep drops and steps, it is not suitable for children under 16 years of age, nor people with mobility problems. Animals are not accepted.

Relaxing stay in a beautiful and historic property
We could not have enjoyed our stay here more. The house is comfortably and very tastefully furnished with the feel of a family home, as indeed it has been, and delightful long views over the gardens, the valley below and the old town ramparts and Portes des Tours, all of which can be especially enjoyed from the terrace and sun room. We loved the large gardens, on two broad terraces backed by the old stone walls of the ramparts, giving a great sense of history. We enjoyed the bird life too. It was hot during our stay and we made good use of the pool. The air conditioning worked well in our bedroom. Veronique’s son Jean gave us a warm welcome and showed us round the house and garden - and even bought us delicious ice creams from the excellent glacier near the Esplanade. He and Veronique, who live next door, were discreet but most helpful in answering any questions we had. Jean kindly arranged canoeing for us too. Domme is a charming place to stay with its well preserved honey coloured stone houses and views over the Dordogne and made a great centre for further exploring the area. There are several good restaurants within a very short walk from the house and others a short drive. We can highly recommend Maison des Tours.
This was one of the nicest places we have stayed in Europe. The decor, the view and the atmosphere of “ Maison des Tours “ is terrific.
Lovely House & Location
Fantastic house with beautiful views in an idyllic location. Great pool and facilities; really helpful owner and Domme is stunning.
Wonderful home in a delightful village
We loved everything about this property. The house, the grounds, the pool, the gardens and the village of Domme were all fantastic. The house is pleasant, has a very well equipped kitchen, and a great place to relax after a day of exploring. We especially enjoyed the outside spaces. The terrace was a wonderful space to enjoy a glass of wine and hors d' ouvres as the sun went down. The pool was clean and well maintained. Domme, though small, has a great boulangerie, a reasonably well equipped grocery store, numerous shops where local goods may be purchased and some reasonable restaurants to choose from.. The pizzeria just down the street was a great place for an excellent pizza. The Thursday market was a treat-many fresh products and a chance to interact with local residents. Veronique and Jean were extremely helpful in showing us around the house and providing information about must-see sights in the area. They had put together two very helpful books for guests. One book explained how to use all the appliances in the house, the other had all sorts of information on the area-from how to get medical attention to where to eat, and visit. We would love to stay here again. We are happy to recommend it to anyone.
Great place in Domme!
Beautiful home against the medieval walls of Domme. Veronica and Jean have a well furnished 2 bedroom home, very comfortable and quiet, nicely furnished and equipped. Amazing views from the living room and back patio overlooking the valley. Large private backyard with a pool! Domme is quiet, charming, many food options, and close to the sites of the Dordogne.
Beautiful home with stunning location.
We loved our stay in Domme. Very relaxing but interesting historical town with plenety to see or do. Great Location with easy access to other points of interest. But the actual accomodation and gardens were exceptional. Very impressive views and facilities. You could not ask for more. We hope to return soon.
Stunning!
My husband and I have just had the most wonderful week staying in La Maison des Tours. Everything about the property was superb - the view/location/proximity to the town of Domme/the welcoming and helpful support of the owners. All this - and the interior comfort of the property couldn't have been better - tastefully furnished throughout and the added bonus of the lovely swimming pool area made it a very memorable holiday. We would highly recommend the property and very much hope to return to do it all over again! Couldn't praise it highly enough.
Exceptional
A superb home and gardens in a unique location. The garden with it's historic walls was a delight - a great place to relax in the shade of the vines. Tranquil and calming yet within a few minutes walk of Domme's shops and restaurants. With parking in the secure garage for our bikes, a refreshing pool, and the charming discreet owner Veronique ensuring everything ran smoothly, our week was perfect - an outstanding property!
Fantastic house
We loved it! The house is very nice, well equipped, and comfortable. The outside space - terrace, sunroom, and gardens - are especially nice. We ended almost every day with a glass or two of wine there. Inside was also nice with two nice-sized bedrooms, two baths (great shower in the upstairs bath), good living space downstairs, and a very well equipped kitchen. Domme was a great choice for us as well - it's a very cute village in a very central location for touring the region. The town is so small that I imagine it gets a little crowded in high season, but in May it was great. There isn't much shopping in Domme itself other than the Thursday market, but a nice supermarket, great boulangerie/patisserie , and a very nice shop with local food products are all within 5-10 minutes, and of course the fantastic market town of Sarlat is only 20 minutes away. Veronique was extremely helpful in showing us around the house, providing lots of information about the area, and helping with our questions. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone!

A stunning and comfortable house with amazing views from the terrace and a lovely, very peaceful garden. We were there for six days, but wished we could have stayed longer!

Amazing house, wonderful location.
Excellent house with an even more amazing garden over 3 levels ! The views from the terrace were also really beautiful. The A/C in the bedrooms was most welcome as it was a very hot week. The house is beautifully furnished with great taste and style. Véronique and her son Jean were very helpful and made our stay very comfortable. The addition of a garage was extremely useful in a village where parking is difficult.
Great holiday, great week ! We will be back !!
Beautiful house in a stunning location
This house in Domme is just perfect. We stayed for a week at the beginning of June, and had a lovely time. The house has ever thing you would need for your perfect holiday, and the views from the Terrace are exceptional. Veronique, the owner, and her son were very helpful, advising on the best places to eat in the area. We will most certainly be returning to this very special house.
